We live here too.

Here are a few links to stories about yet more oil. Why are we so focused on drilling more and more at the expense of our environment? And our lives? We live here too.

Today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-21038303#story_continues_2

“A pipeline system servicing up to 27 oil fields has been shut down after a leak on the Cormorant Alpha platform, north-east of Shetland…”

January 1, 2013: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/02/business/energy-environment/breakaway-oil-rig-runs-aground-in-gulf-of-alaska.html?_r=0

“…One of Shell Oil’s two Arctic drilling rigs is beached on an island in the Gulf

of Alaska, threatening environmental damage from a fuel spill and calling into question Shell’s plans to resume drilling in the treacherous waters north of Alaska in the summer…”

And from last year: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324556304578120140555122104.html

“…BP has agreed to plead guilty to felony charges and pay $4.5 billion in penalties, including $1.26 billion in criminal fines, stemming from the Deepwater Horizon oil-rig accident and spill…”

It just goes on. But I hope we can stop following this oily path.
